Miss World 2008 Crowned in South Africa Kseniya Sukhinova from Russia was crowned Miss World 2008 after competing against 108 other contestants from around the world. The 21-year-old blue-eyed blonde beauty succeeds Zhang Zi Lin of China to become the 58th Miss World. The event was held in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday (Dec. 13). Parvathay Omanakuttan of India was named first runner up. Second runner up is Gabrielle Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago. The event capped a month of activities including a safari.

The show will air Dec. 3 on CBS. It is the most-watched fashion event on television.

Music was provided by the Paul Richard’s Band of Hank Lane Productions. An after-party for the junior attendees followed in the courtyard lounge after the main event. Since 1951, the Nature Conservancy has protected more than 117 million acres of land and 5,000 miles of river worldwide.
